Health and Safety is of paramount importance to our business and is at the heart of everything we do. As our business grows it is vital that the Toppesfield community stay focused and strive for zero accidents.
This year the Annual Safety Day was hosted at Imperial War Museum Duxford, where we welcomed colleagues from across the business and from our supply chain. The day provided an occasion to share information and good practice, for colleagues to gain additional training, and for the business to come together and gather opportunities for improvements.
The day was split into four exercises:
• Forum Theatre
• Hazard Perception
• Defect Reporting
• Tell us what you think
The Forum Theatre showcased an on-site scenario involving site operatives. The interactive session enabled attendees to watch the scenario and address issues, including both health and safety, and personnel.
Hazard Perception provided an opportunity for colleagues to view a real life site ‘run through’ and identify the hazards on site, and the control measures which could be implemented to overcome the potential hazards.
Defect Reporting was another hands-on session, with colleagues assessing plant and equipment and identifying defects.
For the business to develop it is imperative that we listen to our employees. Colleagues were given the opportunity in the ‘Tell us what you think’ session to feedback on any issues relating to Health and Safety.
“Thanks very much for the invite to your excellent safety day we attended last week. Great venue, sessions, refreshments and company. It was a truly enjoyable occasion and great to see you have the same beliefs as ourselves towards safety and the welfare of your operatives.”
