The Project

In 2018 Medway Council released a master plan outlining a £15 million investment to create a world class business hub, Innovation Park Medway. The development forms part of Medway Council regeneration plans aiming to strengthen the local economy and provide a range of jobs and opportunities.

Toppesfield were contracted to assist with the developments infrastructure delivering a base course of their own recycled material ToppBase™ CBGM. Cement Bound Granular Mixtures (CBGM) is an extremely durable and economic construction material used in both foundation and structural pavement layers.

Our Work

Working with FM Conway, Toppesfield installed 3000 tones of CBGM c8/10 in place of a traditional asphalt base course. The material was chosen to maximise durability and provide a solid construction base for the installation of granite block paving.

Toppesfield’s self-delivery model supported in the delivery of 3000 tonnes of their own sustainable material solution ToppBase™ CBGM, which uses 100% recycled aggregates.

Toppesfield worked in collaboration with FM Conway and supply chain partners to deliver work to the client’s programme, despite access restrictions on certain plant. Their vast industry experience supported their ability to adapt to restrictions imposed on the delivery of wagons by using a feeder system to transfer the material from the adjacent carriageway to the hopper of the paver.
