On Wednesday 27^th August 2025, we were pleased to bring together colleagues from across our business, to celebrate the official opening of our new yard in Chelsfield, Kent.

The continued growth of our south-based operations meant that we were quickly outgrowing our previous Kent site in Northfleet. Located alongside FM Conway, the Chelsfield yard is a brand-new, much larger facility, offering long-term security and efficiency for our business.

Boasting a large workshop, yard space and new office facilities, the Chelsfield site will heavily support the work of our Plant and Vehicle Maintenance teams based in the south.

A celebration lunch was hosted by Bill Pryor, Managing Director, providing a great opportunity to showcase the new space, and to thank those who played a key role in transforming the yard into what it is today.

Bill said, “It’s great to see the incredible efforts of our Maintenance teams first-hand as we officially open our new Chelsfield yard. Not only does it look impressive, but it’s also a first-class operational facility, embracing innovation and setting us up for future success.”

We’re delighted to have secured a 5-year contract with our client Colas, maintaining and improving road networks in the North West of England.

Awarded in January 2025, the scheme began earlier this month and will see our operational teams grow, with the addition of a new Supervisor and Surfacing Crew dedicated to the delivery of this contract.

Not only are we pleased to be supporting the area with employment opportunities, but we will also be seeking to contribute impactful social value to the community, alongside Colas.

Our prior experience and expertise working on similar schemes in the North and Midlands was key to our success in securing this contract. We’re looking forward to incorporating our recycled asphalt products, ToppBase, into our delivery, to support sustainability and carbon reduction targets.

Toppesfield, a leading provider of asphalt surfacing and road maintenance services, is pleased to announce the promotion of Elle Brimson to Contracts Director for their Midlands & North Division. In this new role, Elle will also join the Board of Directors, becoming an instrumental voice in Toppesfield’s strategic planning and growth initiatives.

Elle began her journey with Toppesfield in 2017 as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, where she quickly made a name for herself through her commitment to excellence. Working from the company’s headquarters in Ipswich, Elle supported key projects that highlighted her strategic mindset and proactive approach to project cost control and value optimisation.

In 2020, Elle moved to Derby to take on the role of Managing Quantity Surveyor, overseeing the commercial success of the rapidly growing Midlands and North business. Collaborating closely with the operations team, she was a key driver in expanding the company’s footprint in the region. Her leadership also contributed to the successful advancement of ToppBase®, Toppesfield’s materials and recycling division, enhancing value for clients while supporting Toppesfield’s commitment to sustainability.

Earlier this year, Elle was appointed General Manager for the Midlands and North Division. In this position, she took on responsibility for both commercial and operational delivery, working across departments to ensure Toppesfield met and exceeded client expectations in every project. Her work has positioned the company as a trusted partner for infrastructure projects across the Midlands and North, a role that will only expand as she steps into her directorship.

We are thrilled to be delivering the asphalt surfacing on the M27 J5 – 7 on behalf of Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure and National Highways as part of the wider concrete roads renewal programme. The scheme will see Toppesfield overlay the existing concrete with 180mm of asphalt to provide smoother, quieter journeys and extend the road’s life span for years to come.

Our onsite self-delivery model ensures that the resources on site are industry leading and our unique position in the industry has enabled Toppesfield to engage with our wider supply chain to increase the volumes of material laid per shift and minimise the duration of the works.

We’ve only just started the scheme but we are already looking forward to the next phase of the works and continuing to work closely alongside our client, Morgan Sindall.

We are thrilled to have started our Area 9 Maintenance and Repair Contract for valued client, Colas and National Highways, by delivering resurfacing works to the A49 at Wolverton junction, in addition to the A458 Welsh Border to Whitney Crest.

Our six year contract will see us deliver planned and emergency maintenance and repair works across a total length of c. 3,500km of motorway and trunk roads. With Area 9 covering the strategic road network within Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire as well as parts of Gloucestershire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.

With the project having a clear carbon reduction plan, our partnership aligns with our commitment to community and sustainability. This accomplishment isn’t just about reaching milestones; it’s about shaping a more sustainable and resilient future.

On Monday 8th January Toppesfield welcomed all 350 of their colleagues to Milton Keynes Stadium to host their first Business Engagement Day.

The day kicked off with key updates from our Managing Director, Bill Pryor, and the Board of Directors. The opportunity to have everyone in one room offered a sense of collaboration that resonated throughout the entire event.

 

 

One of the highlights of the day was an inspiring talk on ‘Mental Wealth’ by Ollie Ollerton from SAS: Who Dares Wins. His insights provided valuable perspectives on well-being and resilience, reinforcing the importance of mental health in the workplace.

 

 

In addition to the informative sessions, our PPE supplier showcased the latest items available, encouraging feedback from our team on how we can enhance and tailor our offerings. This interactive engagement ensures that our supplies align perfectly with the needs and preferences of our workforce.

The afternoon session took on a dynamic turn with the ‘Wall Street Winners’ team-building activity. This interactive exercise brought a fun twist to the day, emphasising the crucial role of collaboration in our collective journey towards success.

Leading surfacing contractor, Toppesfield, continue to invest in the latest technology to support their self-delivery model with the purchase of the new Vögele SUPER 1900-5(i) tracked paver.

Taking delivery of the first Dash 5 machine in the country, Toppesfield are ahead of the curve, supporting in the expert delivery of their projects. The new paver is designed to improve safety, performance, and efficiency.

Taking delivery just in time to be give then Topp1000 identification number, the paver was given a new look to make it standout.

On Sunday 14th of May, we were thrilled to hold our first Toppesfield football match. The day brought our employees and their families together from across the country to witness our Midlands and London Teams go head-to-head with our Central Team.

Held at Hadleigh Football Club, a venue which is close to the history of our business, being located near to where Toppesfield was founded in 2004, and used as our staff car park for a decade, the day offered the perfect opportunity to catch up with colleagues, complete with friendly competition and amazing food.

A massive well done to both our teams for their incredible performance and congratulations to Central who bought home the ToppeShield, winning 1-0 with our Managing Director, Bill Pryor, scoring the winning (and only) goal. Thank you to everyone who participated and came along to support our teams.
